Chartering Organization
Every scouting unit is required to have a sponsor. Troop 500 is sponsored by Capitol Hill Scouts.
Unit Organization
Troop 500 is lead by youth leaders that are guided and supported by adult volunteers. The troop is lead by the Senior Patrol Leader (SPL), who is an older scout that is elected by the scouts in the troop, that is supported by scouts in various positions of responsibility.
Troop 500 consists of 4 mixed age patrols, which are groups of scouts that work together on activities and advancement. Each patrol is lead by a youth patrol leader (PL) who is elected by members of that patrol.
Youth leaders in the troop are supported and guided by the Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters, who are trained adult leaders that work with the youth. Administrative responsibilities are held by the Committee members, who are also adult volunteers.
Parents and guardians are welcome to volunteer to support Troop 500. There are many ways to help, from supporting fundraisers to serving on the committee. Contact us to learn more.
