Troop 500's Scouts

Youth Leaders

Leadership is something our Scouts practice every week. Experienced Scouts lead troop meetings, organize campouts, teach outdoor skills, mentor younger members, and serve in elected leadership positions. Many continue participating throughout high school, creating a culture where knowledge and traditions are passed from one generation of Scouts to the next.

Our Scouts also serve beyond Troop 500 by participating in the Order of the Arrow, staffing district and council events, and helping organize Camporee. These experiences strengthen both our troop and the broader Scouting community.

Youth Advancement

Whether a Scout is working toward their first rank or striving to become an Eagle Scout, Troop 500 provides the encouragement, mentorship, and opportunities needed to succeed.  See our Eagles here.

Advancement is more than earning badges. It develops leadership, responsibility, service, and practical life skills. Every Scout progresses at their own pace while being supported by experienced youth leaders and dedicated adult volunteers.

Youth Uniforms

Scouts wear the official Scouts BSA uniform ("Class A") for troop meetings, Courts of Honor, travel, and other formal occasions. The Troop 500 activity shirt ("Class B") is worn for campouts, service projects, and many outdoor activities.

To help keep Scouting affordable, Troop 500 maintains a uniform exchange. We also believe that financial circumstances should never prevent a young person from participating. If the cost of uniforms, camping equipment, or activities presents a hardship, please speak with the Scoutmaster. Financial assistance and loaner gear are available, and all conversations are handled confidentially.
