For decades, Troop 500 has been helping young people grow into confident leaders through adventure, service, and the values of Scouting America. Based on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC, we welcome boys and girls who are ready to explore the outdoors, challenge themselves, and become part of a supportive community.
Our troop is built on the belief that the best way to learn is by doing. Scouts attend meetings to learn skills and build friendships. They plan adventures, lead their peers, solve problems, and take increasing responsibility for the success of the troop. Guided by experienced youth leaders and adult volunteers, our scouts develop confidence, teamwork, and decision-making skills that serve them well far beyond Scouting.
Whether you're an experienced scouter or brand new, you'll find a place in our troop. We welcome boys and girls ages 11–17, as well as youth who have earned the Arrow of Light and completed the fifth grade. New scouts can join any time during the year. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where every Scout can learn, grow, and thrive.
